DETAILED ITINERARY
DAY 1 – Welcome to Rome: Treasures of the Eternal City
Arrival in Rome. Right after a warm welcome, we begin our adventure with a panoramic guided tour taking us through the masterpieces of Vatican City and Ancient Rome. Afterwards, transfer to our reserved hotel, welcome dinner, and overnight stay.
DAY 2 – The Magic of Umbria & Tuscany: Assisi & Florence
After breakfast, we depart Rome for the splendid walled town of Assisi, birthplace of St. Francis. We will visit the famous Basilica of St. Francis featuring proto-Renaissance frescoes by Giotto and Cimabue. We then continue towards Florence through the picturesque hills of Umbria and Tuscany. Arrival in the late afternoon, dinner, and overnight at the hotel.
DAY 3 – Florence & the Charm of Siena
Breakfast at the hotel. The morning is dedicated to a guided walking tour of Florence’s historic center: we will admire Piazza del Duomo, the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, Giotto’s Bell Tower, the Baptistery of St. John, and iconic Renaissance streets. In the afternoon, we head on an excursion to Siena, a charming medieval city famous for its breathtaking Piazza del Campo and Gothic Duomo. Return to Florence, dinner in a traditional restaurant or hotel, and overnight.
DAY 4 – The Culinary Capital & the Lagoon: Bologna & Venice
After breakfast, departure for the learned city of Bologna, one of Italy’s premier art capitals, to explore the spectacular Piazza Maggiore, the famous Two Towers, and the Fountain of Neptune. We then press on to Venice for an unforgettable guided evening walk through its romantic calli and bridges. Dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 5 – Venice at Leisure & the Lagoon Islands
Breakfast. Morning guided tour through the heart of Venice: St. Mark’s Square, the Basilica, the Doge’s Palace (exterior), followed by a visit to a historic furnace to witness the art of Murano glassblowing. The afternoon is free at leisure to get lost among Venice’s canals and bridges, or to take an optional boat excursion to the picturesque islands of the lagoon: Murano, Burano with its brightly colored houses, and Torcello. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 6 – Romantic Verona to the Shores of Lake Como
After breakfast, we head to Verona, the city of Romeo and Juliet. We will visit the lively Piazza delle Erbe, the impressive Roman Arena, and the scenic Castelvecchio Bridge. In the afternoon, our journey continues to the shores of Lake Como, an enchanting panoramic destination framed by the Alps, where we enjoy a scenic boat cruise. Dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 7 – Milan: Fashion, Modernity & History
Breakfast followed by a short transfer to Milan for a full day dedicated to Italy’s fashion capital. We will enjoy a guided panoramic and walking tour of its top landmarks: the majestic Milan Duomo, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, La Scala Theatre, and the imposing Sforza Castle. The afternoon is free for shopping in the famous Fashion District. Farewell dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 8 – Milan & Arrivederci Italia
After breakfast, free time for last-minute shopping before an organized transfer to Milan Airport (Malpensa or Linate) or Milan Central Station, where our tour comes to an end. Arrivederci Italia!
